Well hopefully those of you reading this blog will have watched President Obama’s first State of the Union address yesterday night. For the entry of this blog we will address what went on, what things he said, actions he did and how I as well as everyone else has felt about it.
The outline of this speech was focused around the primary aspects that the United States was faced with. Obama did apologize for the actions that the US is currently facing. However, he didn’t apologize for the action he had taken, but rather labeled them as a necessary action in order to stop the United States from digging itself deeper into another fiscal and recession laden hole.
However, aside from the basis of the speech Obama did something that I have never seen him do in terms of all the speeches I have seen him give. The speech if you will was somewhat laid back amidst the gravity the United States is facing. Cracking jokes and smiling really showed how amazing of a speak Obama is. One thing that I really liked was how he bashed the GOP base for seeking out their own ambitions and not focusing on the leadership that he said doesn’t exist with them.
Other outlines of the speech included a repeal of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Law. The taxing of wealthy people in the United States. High speed railway systems, and not settling to see America be second place while he’s president. All in all I thought this speech was close to being as good as his 2004 DNC speech that catapulted him to the top of the political spectrum. That is all
