Los Suns

For the last two and a half weeks the United States has been plagued with an immigration law that has seen protest from Hispanic and non-Hispanic communities across the country. Recently the Chicago Cubs were protesting the Arizona Diamondbacks game that was being played in Wrigley Field. In addition the MLBPA came out with a press release stating that they are encouraging GOP governor of Arizona Jan Brewer to reconsider the law that was passed and remove it entirely. However, one of the boldest statements towards this fascist bill was demonstrated by the NBA's Phoenix Suns. On May 5, 2010, the Suns, rather then just wearing their normal jerseys, sported ones that read "Los Suns". I feel that while the organization stated that it was simply because of Cinco de Mayo, that there is a general underlying premise that the Suns were trying to demonstrate with these jerseys. While this is a short entry, this is definitely a good first step for the eradication of this ridiculous bill. That is all.

The "Fascist" United States of America

As I am sure almost everyone has heard, the state of Arizona and their GOP governor Jan Brewer reintroduced fascist ideologies back into the United States. Last Friday, with the help of a GOP majority, the state government of Arizona introduced the most radical immigration law in the United States. The law goes as follows:
1: Arizona's law orders immigrants to carry their alien registration documents at all times and requires police to question people if there's reason to suspect they're in the United States illegally.
2: It also targets those who hire illegal immigrant laborers or knowingly transport them.

Now while the second part of the law in correct in what it presents. The part many Americans, including myself, find so disgusting is the first part. All of this controversy sparked up with the inability of the US government to pass immigration reform and an ever increasing amount of illegal aliens. Granted, I am all for immigration reform, but representing policies that resemble Nazi Germany is absolutely absurd.

What I want you to picture is Eastern Europe from 1939-1944. We have all seen the movies of the war depicting Nazi's requiring citizens to carry papers and identification on them at all times, with the notion, that if they Jewish or non-Aryan, they were to be arrested. Now I want you to jump to 2010, where Arizona will be applying the same rules to Hispanic citizens. Regardless if they are illegal or not, all citizens questioned on their citizenship status, will have to present papers to prove their identity. Is that really what America has transformed into? Aside from the sheer unconstitutionality of the bill, other problems such as racial profiling will come into play. It is an absolutely embarrassment to call myself a citizen of the USA with this law still in play. I have never been more angry over any law this much since the introduction of the Patriot Act.

Im really urging all of you to protest this law as much as possible, because the identity of America as the "melting pot" of the world is in jeopardy. Write to anyone, who you think could be a difference maker in the repealing of this law. Unless you want a country that represents fascist ideologies, I urge you to do it as quickly as possible.

That is Not Leadership

Well hopefully those of you reading this blog will have watched President Obama’s first State of the Union address yesterday night. For the entry of this blog we will address what went on, what things he said, actions he did and how I as well as everyone else has felt about it.

The outline of this speech was focused around the primary aspects that the United States was faced with. Obama did apologize for the actions that the US is currently facing. However, he didn’t apologize for the action he had taken, but rather labeled them as a necessary action in order to stop the United States from digging itself deeper into another fiscal and recession laden hole.

However, aside from the basis of the speech Obama did something that I have never seen him do in terms of all the speeches I have seen him give. The speech if you will was somewhat laid back amidst the gravity the United States is facing. Cracking jokes and smiling really showed how amazing of a speak Obama is. One thing that I really liked was how he bashed the GOP base for seeking out their own ambitions and not focusing on the leadership that he said doesn’t exist with them.

Other outlines of the speech included a repeal of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell Law. The taxing of wealthy people in the United States. High speed railway systems, and not settling to see America be second place while he’s president. All in all I thought this speech was close to being as good as his 2004 DNC speech that catapulted him to the top of the political spectrum. That is all

The Only Way to Stop this is to Stop Digging

One of the most crucial problems facing the United States in the present and future is our rising deficit. Now while many of those conservative pundits out there blame President Obama for this problem, their narrow minded views dont get to see the whole picture. The URL in this post is about a bipartisan effort by the Obama administration to hull in the rising national deficit. With the Congress rejecting the motion, its up to Obama to get the wheels going.

To all of those against Obama out there, we need to look at Mein Fueher Bush to see where these problems began. A little thing called the Iraq "War" comes to mind. With almost 1 trillion dollars by some estimates spent on the war, the American population and Im not talking about me or my grandchildren, but my grandchildren's children will suffer. An interesting statistic in explained by the Brookings Institute. They contend that in the current time we live in now, JUST TO MAKE THE DEFICIT BALANCED, EVERY single America would have to pay $256,000 dollars each. Its time for someone to make this situation right instead of letting it get out of hand.

That is all. (Theres the creative ending I came up with)

Pre- State of the Union Address

Two days before Barack Obama's State of the Union address is upon us and with that questions arise as to what President Obama is going to talk about. Health care, the economy and jobs all come to mind. However, one aspect that seems to be off of everyones mind is President Obama's promise to repeal the Dont Ask Dont Tell policy. In light of this well express some of the concerns that DADT brings to the Obama administration.

Ill assume that most of us reading this post will understand what DADT brings to the board in terms of military problems. I remember back to my junior year in the OHSSL Semi-Final round of extemp, that I drew a question concerning military recruiting for the United States military. To this day, recruiting is proving to be a pivotal aspect in terms of the United State's success in Iraq and Afghanistan. We all remember when then General Eric Shinseki suggested to the Bush Administration that 200,000 troops would be the required amount to sustain a successful ground operation in Iraq. However, Bush and all of his goombas decided to opt for 60,000 and the rest as they like to say is history. In turn, weve hired over 150,000 private contractors or mercenaries if you will, that have caused absolute hell for the United States. With companies like Blackwater USA running rampant across the Middle-East giving the United States a bad name, something has to be done. This is where the repealing of DADT will play a huge factor for recruiting numbers as well as improving Americas image across the globe.

During the 2008 campaign, Obama and his team used the rhetoric of repealing the DADT law as means to gain massive support from the gay and lesbian community, however, a year into the presidency, nothing has been done. With the State of the Union address coming up, it would be wise of President Obama to include rhetoric in his speech to give members of the GLBTQ community hope. Not only will this clear up his promise from 2008, but it will also provide crucial numbers the military needs to sustain situations across the international community. Since 1990, over five thousand instances have been recorded of the military having problems with homosexuals. Needless to say, many of those men and women discharged could have provided crucial hope and help for the military. In some instances the US lacks in Arabic translators and in turn only prolong their grief when turing away gays and lesbians who can speak and translate the language fluently. Obama, with help of the Democrats and the American public need to repeal this law and in turn get rid of all the grief recruiting has brought to the US Military.

As to the creative sign off, still yet to happen.

Warchol's America 2010

Well Ive always wanted to create my own personal space to outline things going on in my life and I feel that along with many other things, this Social Research class is going to help me start this process. So, well now address a few questions that you may have as youre reading this. As with almost anything in this existence we call life, we want to know about people and everything about them, so let me begin. My name is Rob and Im a undergraduate freshman government and international politics major here at George Mason University. I hail from Youngstown, Ohio, which is one of the heaviest economically devastated areas in the country. I am absolutely insane, but in a good way. Experiences and situations in my life have shaped the way I perceive things and I love and hate those that have created me for the way I am.

I guess youre wondering what this whole blog is going to be about and thats a damned good question. Im presuming its going to be about a lot of things going on in my life. Whether it be from a political aspect to personal situations going on in my world. For the sake of privacy all names that I mention in this blog from my past and for that matter present are assumed to be under an alias as I do not want to bring these good and terrible people into the light. Needless to say I may try and update this as many times as I can because I can be confident in the idea that at least someone out there wants to read about what I have to say.

So if youve made it this far then Im assuming that youre moderately interested in what I have to say. I guess youre expecting some kind of tag line to go at the end of all my posts but Im not that creative.
